Earth Day 2009

Today was a great day at PVM, we had our yearly Earth Day event.  We had 600 students from Preble County come out and have a blast!  It was strange to have so many kids on the property and not be responsible for any of them.  Here is the best pic I took:

A Hardcore Mother!

Anyways, Robyn and I are off to Illinois to see a couple of our great friends!  Have a great weekend!

Best. Trailer. Ever. Period.  Just released.

So today I had to go to Cincinnati for a Home-school Convention at Duke Energy Center.  It was almost dinner time so I headed out on the town to find something to eat.  As I was walking down the road I probably passed two to three homeless people.  Then I saw Chipotle and as I was walking towards it I noticed a man sitting down on the sidewalk with his sign.  I stopped and I asked him, “Hey, wanna get some Chipotle?”  He said yes right away, as soon as he did I said, “Awesome, lets go!”  I told him he could order whatever he wanted and I got a chicken burrito, delicious.  We sat and chatted for a bit and I learned that he likes to be called, Country.  He had worked at a company for 30 years and is now on the streets and has been for four years….please pray for him and his health.

Speaking of Chiptole, Country said that they feed some of the homeless people every night after they close!  Which I personally think is fantastic!

Throw and Tell

I may have figured out a way to make rainy camp days more fun!  I purchased the whole set of Throw and Tell Beach Balls which you can check out here.  I am super excited about them and I know they will bring a lot of fun and conversation when they are just hanging out in the cabins.  I bought 15 total, some for younger kids and some for older ones.

When and if you ever get the chance to work at a camp, one thing you will learn quick is that things just kind of happen, “spontaneously”.  Well, today at around 11:35 a.m. I mentioned to the office staff that the Cincinnati Reds play in one hour.  Then I proceeded to see if everyone wanted to get up and go!  It took everyone about three seconds to make their decision, so we went!  AND THEY WON!  Talk about the best job in the world, hanging out with kids, adventure, working for Christ and just going to a Red’s game.  Awesome!

When I was younger one of my childhood dreams was to be a weather man.  I love storms and get pumped when I hear that a storm is rolling in.  But, when I was that age I didn’t call it a “Weather Man.”  I called it a, “Cloud Man.”

You can laugh if you want to.

I also wanted to be a Storm Chaser!  I lived dangerously.

Metal Detecting

I own a Garrett Ace 150 metal detector that my wife got me for a wedding present.  My goal is to pay for it with what I find.  So far I have found around five bucks.  I feel like an old guy when I go out and find stuff, but I love it!  I think everone should buy one and we have a huge metal detecting outing here at PVM.  Anyone want to join?  I went out for fifteen minutes today and found $.75
